Forestry Summer Student
This position is a full-time summer student role starting ASAP and running through to September 1, 2021, with possibility of extension.

Location: Calgary, Cochrane or Edmonton.
Summary of Position:
We are looking for a high achiever that wants to have a positive impact on the forest of Alberta. Your diversity of work will include timber cruising, cutblock layout, tree planting supervision and maybe even climbing a tree to look for endangered whitebark pine cones!
You will work on projects that help with caribou habitat restoration, reforestation, water quality protection, saving communities from fire and minimizing the human footprint on the landscape. You will also assist our staff around the office with social media posts, annual cleanup and potentially building a plan for rooftop garden.
Reporting to the Vegetation and Earthworks Operations Manager, this position is a combination of both field and office work and provides a very challenging workload that is often production focussed. This position requires a self-motivated, safety conscious individual who takes great pride in their work. You will have the opportunity to learn from a diverse team of GIS, environmental and engineering professionals.
• At least 1 year of education in a forestry specific post-secondary program
• Willingness to work in various locations throughout Alberta for shifts of up to 6 weeks
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Valid Alberta Drivers License
Other Assets (Skills and Training):
• Standard First Aid & CPR, ATV Safety Training and H2S Alive
• Knowledge of Esri-based field and office products
• Experience with timber cruising, silviculture surveying, FireSmart, tree planting program supervision and / or cutblock layout
• History working with Indigenous groups
