Forestry Supervisor

This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day field operations of the assigned field team. Responsibilities include managing and scheduling equipment required for the project, ensuring scope of work gets completed as per the Project Manager or the Forestry Supervisors direction, through supervising and leading field operations, while mentoring and training field staff.

  • Wage: $30-$45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all Safety policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Leading timber cruising and timber investigations;
  • Leading cutblock, road layout and assessments
  • Leading riparian and ecosystem assessments;
  • Leading data collection and entry;
  • Additional adhoc assistance requirements needed by the supervisor;

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a natural resource field.
  • Registered or able to register with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (RPF, RFT).
  • Positive attitude, highly organized, with a proven ability to provide supervision and mentor junior staff members.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the forest industry.
  • Specific experience with forest development activities such as block layout (ground based and cable), timber cruising, ecological data collection and riparian classification.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of the BC tenure and appraisal system.
  • Provide a Negative 12 Panel Drug and Alcohol pre employment test. 
  • Provide a Drivers Abstract with no major infractions.
